Custody

Custody is where a child lives, has their home and receives their primary care.

Custody can be sole to one parent, or shared by both parents.

Custody also means being a "primary parent." That means assuming the responsibilities of being the parent, in caring for and guiding your child.

The new law unlinks "Custody" from "Child Support."

The amount paid for Child Support is based on the amount of overnights that a child spends with each parent.

Whatever custody arrangement works for you and your child (whether sole custody or joint custody), you and the other parent will agree on a workable schedule.
