Property Division

Part of the divorce process is dividing marital, and sometimes, non-marital property.

Property includes real estate, bank accounts, investments, retirement assets, vehicles, and personal property and furnishings.

Minnesota is an “Equitable Property” state, which means that generally marital property is divided equally, but if one party is seriously disadvantaged, then marital property can be divided unequally. Sometimes even non-marital property can be apportioned.
