Cathleen A. Sykes, Associate and Managing Attorney

Cathleen joined Ballou Law Partners in 2010 as an associate and managing attorney. She practices in the area of family law, including separation and divorce, child custody, parenting time, adoption, and child support; and immigration, including asylum, naturalization, and family-based petitions.

Cathleen graduated in 2006 from the University of Minnesota, Duluth where she received her B.S. in Biochemisry and her B.A. in Chemistry. She received her J.D. in 2010 from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. While in law school, Cathleen studied LGBT law in the Netherlands, and served as President of William Mitchell's Law Students for Reproductive Justice organization.  In addition, Cathleen volunteered for the Volunteer Lawyers Network and the Minnesota Justice Foundation, receiving the Minnesota Justice Foundation Award for completing over 50 hours of volunteer legal service. 

Cathleen is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Organization for Women.  She also serves on the MSBA's committee on Women in the Legal Profession.

Cathleen currently lives in Hugo and her interests include traveling, politics, and her cat, Ruth Bader, II.
