Martha A. Ballou, Founding PartnerPhone: 612 321 9800 Martha Ballou is a broadly experienced lawyer who has practiced Family Law for over 20 years. Starting her career as an organizer for low income people, Martha became a political organizer in the late 1970s, and worked for Gov. Rudy Perpich where she ran the state’s homeless and hungry programs and Minnesota’s response to the Farm Crisis. When she became a lawyer in 1987, Martha initially focused on battered women. She expanded her practice to divorce and separation, child custody and support, Orders for Protection, Immigration law, and Gay Family Law. A graduate of William Mitchell College of Law (J.D 1987), Wayne State University, Detroit (MSW 1972) and the University of Missouri (BA 1964), Martha made advocacy her whole career – as an attorney, political organizer, and community activist. She is a Certified Mediator, and has taught CLE courses on Contracting for Gay Marriage at the Family Law Institute, and Health Insurance costs. She has been a mentor to new legal students and has been very active in community and political affairs for forty years. Martha has an adult son, Brendan who works for Google in California. |
